Hi, it's nice to meet you.

I am a registered social worker and psychotherapist and I specialize in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for teens, adults and perinatal mental health.

I have my Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Toronto and an Honours Undergraduate Degree in Psychology from the University of Guelph. I am also fully certified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy through Wilfred Laurier University and am trained and practiced in treating depression, anxiety, phobias, self-esteem concerns, stress, transitional periods and relationship challenges within the CBT modality. My passion and enthusiasm for CBT stems from two simple and impactful words - it works. As a CBT therapist, it is my goal to provide you with the tools and strategies to effectively manage negative thoughts and behaviours and work with you to find balance and lasting change. In addition to CBT, I am also trained in; Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, Self Compassion, Suicide Safety Planning, and Foundational Trauma. These modalities function as a complement to my CBT practice.

My philosophy of care is to treat and support the whole person. So although the majority of my clients enter my office for emotional support, I often encourage reflection on other areas of health that may be impacting wellbeing and am happy to refer clients for additional wellness support as needed. My most common referrals include naturopathic medicine, massage, osteopathy and/or psychiatry.

Now, if you’ve been following along, you would have seen me talk about switching up my practice. But what does that mean? It means that if I’m being honest, parenthood has really shaken things up for me. So instead of fighting against all the changes and sleepless nights that have come with that, I’ve decided to embrace it and switch up the focus of my practice. I’ve spent the last 5 years building a therapy practice specializing in CBT and geriatrics, but now am switching things up and following my heart into perinatal mental health support.

This includes anyone struggling with prenatal and postpartum mood concerns, regardless of where you are on your parenting journey. From trying to conceive, pregnancy and/or pregnancy loss, early postpartum or well into those early years of parenting - you are welcome here. I will be applying my previous education and experience, along with my lived experience as a parent and my most recent courses with the Canadian Perinatal Mental Health Trainings, to continuing to provide professional therapy with empathy and compassion.

But what about more generalized depression, anxiety, stress, panic, loss and transitions?

Yes, you are still welcome here! I am excited to continue to be providing support to adults and teens ages 15+, along with older adults and their caregivers.

Outside of the office, I am a nature enthusiast and mama to a beautiful baby girl. I love camping, hiking, and more recently, building lego towers.

I would be honoured to support you on your journey.

- Samantha
